ART PROGRAM

“The art program aims to increase the competitiveness of Mongolia’s cultural and artistic sector and contribute to the sustainable development of the sector.”

The program contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the Mongolian cultural and artistic sector by creating new works, expanding international collaboration, and promoting Mongolian culture and arts internationally, as well as global culture and arts in Mongolia.

The program focuses on supporting artists in the fields of modern and classical dance, music, visual arts, media, and film to create quality artistic works and improve their capabilities. In this context, the program will work on the following main objectives.

  • Developing international cooperation in the cultural and artistic sector, especially in the fields of music, dance, visual arts, film, and media arts
  • Promoting Mongolian culture and arts to a global audience

ARTS EDUCATION AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Through arts education, we contribute to the development of citizens and societies that value national and common human values.

The Ulaanbaatar Biennale is initiated by the City Mayor in cooperation with the Arts and Culture Department of the City Implementing Agency and the Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) NGO and will be held from June 6th – 20th of 2025.
Motion Mongolia is a biennial contemporary dance festival that aims to contribute to the development of contemporary dance in Mongolia, build the capacity of local dancers, and expand international partnerships in the sector.
The newest addition to ACM festivals, Ulaanbaatar Classical Music Festival is a festival to be held biennially with the goal of raising awareness of Mongolian classical music works among the public and contributing to the improvement of classical music education.
Ulaanbaatar International Film Festival (UBIFF) aims to provide an opportunity for Mongolian public to get acquainted with best independent films selected and awarded at A-list festivals around the world, to build the capacity of local filmmakers, and to contribute to the sustainable development of the Mongolian cinema industry. 
Ulaanbaatar International Media Art Festival, organized by ACM since 2015, aims to expand international visual arts collaboration, introduce new media art development to the Mongolian audience and foster diverse cultural and artistic expression. 
ACM, in line with its goal of fostering international cooperation in the arts sector, is implementing the NAR – Nomadic Arts Residency Program in partnership with M.A.R.S (Mongolian Artist Residency Studios), inviting international artists to create in a picturesque natural setting.

Since 2008, ACM has been implementing Young Leadership in the Arts, a fellowship program in partnership with ACM-US. Since its launch, the program has involved and built the capacity of 320 fellows.
ACM has organized the e-training course “Access to Success” to build the capacity of freelance artists. This course is open to freelance artists who are committed to self-challenge and eager to learn.
Since 2003, ACM has been implementing this project to encourage children’s passion for knowledge and foster their creative thinking and skills through music, visual arts, dance, cinema and media arts, which will help nurture creative minds for a better tomorrow.
Future Talent scholarship program’s goal is to encourage financially struggling students’ motivation to learn and to prepare future artistic innovators.
The Khankhongor Ensemble scholarship program aims to enhance the capacity of artists from Umnugovi aimag and transmit the rich legacy of Mongolian folk music to future generations.
Rainbow Horses project, aimed at enhancing equal participation and conveying the voices of the project participants to the public through art therapy, was successfully implemented in 2022 with a grant from the Australian Volunteers Program’s Impact Fund.
The Shining Horses scholarship program, initiated in honor of the late Vice Chair of ACM Peter Morrow, aims to foster artistic creation and elevate the competitiveness of local artists.
“We Can – We Are Talented” is an inclusive short filmmaking project implemented by ACM in collaboration with Bus Stop Films Australia (BSF) since 2018.
