The 5th edition of the “Motion Mongolia” International Contemporary Dance Festival was successfully held in Ulaanbaatar from April 24–29, 2026
Initiated by the ACM in 2018, the festival aims to promote cultural diversity through contemporary dance, strengthen artistic collaboration, and deepen intercultural understanding.
This year’s program featured master classes and workshops led by internationally and locally renowned artists and educators, including Lithuanian dancer and choreographer Marius Pinigis, German artist Kiani Del Valle, Mongolian–U.S. dancer and teacher Tumenanasan Tuya, and Taiwanese artist Yaya Chen.
The festival also presented public performances, including the children’s creative program showcase “Poetry Movement” and the contemporary dance piece “Interrupted Flow” by artists of the “Jaakhan Sharga” Theatre of Sukhbaatar Province. The closing program featured contemporary works such as “What the Gazelle Dreamed?” by the “Jaakhan Sharga” Theatre and “Rite of Spring” by artists of the Ulaanbaatar Theatre.
The festival successfully brought together 80 international and local artists, around 120 participants, and over 500 audience members, expanding collaboration and professional exchange, and making a valuable contribution to the development of contemporary dance.
