In June 2025, the Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM), in collaboration with the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor’s Office and the Department of Culture and Arts of Ulaanbaatar, launched the Ulaanbaatar Biennale. The biennale is part of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network initiatives and aims to promote and disseminate media and visual arts, one of the seven creative fields recognized by UNESCO. The event was designed to engage the city’s residents, enriching their intellectual and aesthetic experiences, knowledge of history, culture, and the arts, while supporting cultural tourism and enhancing the quality of urban life.
In 2025, the biennale was successfully held under the theme “Under the Moon, at the Edge of the Sky”, featuring international solo and collaborative exhibitions, indoor and outdoor performances, arts education programs, as well as training, workshops, and dialogues for curators and artists.
