In 2025, Erdene Zuu Monastery, one of Mongolia’s few Buddhist heritage sites, was nominated for the World Monuments Watch program with the aim of protecting it from climate impacts and preparing future heritage professionals. Following an independent evaluation by international heritage experts, the monastery was recognized as one of 25 priority sites out of over 200 nominations facing significant conservation challenges, marking an important milestone in its preservation and global recognition.
