“Challenges in Preserving Mongolia’s Architectural Heritage” TRAINING
Mongolian architecture reflects a rich history that combines nomadic traditions, Buddhist influences, socialist-era structures, and modern experimental design. As urbanization accelerates, both tangible and intangible forms of architectural heritage are under pressure. Highlighting the challenges of protecting modern architectural heritage creates opportunities to support more inclusive, sustainable, and locally grounded development solutions. This training, organized under UNESCO’s Modern Heritage Program, introduced contemporary methods, international standards, and climate-resilient long-term preservation solutions to strengthen the capacity of Mongolian architects, engineers, and heritage specialists in the protection and restoration of architectural heritage. Training was attended by architects from 21 provinces online and 25 architects and students physically.
